In 1962, the 20 in. barrel was standard on .222 Rem., .222 Rem. Mag., .243 Win., .270 Win., .280 Rem., .30-06, or .308 Win. cal. In 1964, these calibers had a standard barrel length of 22 inches. 24 in. stainless steel barrels were standard on 7mm Rem. Mag., .264 Win. Mag., and .300 Win. Mag. (catalog 1962-1970) cals.
Remington manufactured the Model 700BDL in .350 Rem. Mag. and 6.5mm Rem. Mag. (1,584 mfg. between 1969-1975). 1,558 were assembled in 1969 and sold through 1975. The .350 Rem. Mag. manufactured in 1969 is 3 times rarer than the 1985 Model 700 Classic chambered for .350 Rem. Mag.
During 1984, Remington began stamping a safety warning on the barrel.
