Mag. call mfg. 1962-1970), X-Mark Pro adj. trigger became standard 2008, supplied with open sights the first year, hooded ramp front sight and adj. rear sight then became standard, American walnut stock with high gloss finish, distinctive black forend cap, white line spacers, Monte Carlo comb profile and finely cut checkering, R3 recoil pad supplied on Mag. cals., hinged floorplate, cut skipline checkering, receiver and floorplate fine line engraving was standard 1997-2001, non-embellished beginning 2002, sling swivel studs, metal work features deep, rich, high polished blue finish, approx. 7 1/4-7 5/8 lbs.

In 1962, the 20 in. barrel was standard on .222 Rem., .222 Rem. Mag., .243 Win., .270 Win., .280 Rem., .30-06, or .308 Win. cal. In 1964, these calibers had a standard barrel length of 22 inches. 24 in. stainless steel barrels were standard on 7mm Rem. Mag., .264 Win. Mag., and .300 Win. Mag. (catalog 1962-1970) cals.
Remington manufactured the Model 700BDL in .350 Rem. Mag. and 6.5mm Rem. Mag. (1,584 mfg. between 1969-1975). 1,558 were assembled in 1969 and sold through 1975. The .350 Rem. Mag. manufactured in 1969 is 3 times rarer than the 1985 Model 700 Classic chambered for .350 Rem. Mag.
During 1984, Remington began stamping a safety warning on the barrel.
